lovelorn |ˈlʌvlɔːn| adjective | unhappy because of unrequited love. With Lovelornia you hear a first song off of Cellar Darling (to be released September 27th), the long awaited solo debut of the 24 year old Swiss singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Anna Murphy currently well known as the hurdy gurdy player and singer of Switzerland's most successful music export, Eluveitie.  Lovelorn is defined as "unhappy because of unrequited love", and morphed by Anna into the name of the fictitious land of "Lovelornia". The song discusses Anna's trademark sarcastic view of relationships and the far-reaching consequences of unfortunate miscommunication between genders.  As much a music fan as an artist, Anna refuses any further explanation - not to keep her fans in the dark, but to allow them to immerse themselves in their own version of the story, and to allow the song to come to life in a personal way for each listener. Or, in Anna’s own words: “I prefer to pour my emotions into my music, rather than onto my listeners.”  On her solo album, Anna Murphy elegantly combines Pop, Rock and Electronica into an extraordinarily diverse mix, causing comparisons to Florence And The Machine, Jack White or Muse. You may call her style "Alternative", although Anna herself much prefers the term "Eclectica".
