Max is a Songwriter and Piano player-singer who has released several critically acclaimed albums. Originally from Nottingham, Max studied Music at Westminster University in London, then spent a musical apprenticeship at The Premises Studios in Hackney, engineering and producing a wide range of artists, including pillars of the Gospel music scene such as London Community Gospel Choir and a host of projects with in-house producer Nicky Brown. Gospel and Blues have been major influences on Max and have combined with long standing interests in jazz and catchy, economical pop songwriting to provide a breadth of aesthetic sensibility uniquely combined in his Songwriting. Max has also been in demand as a piano player for a wide range of artists including Adrian Crowley, Fionn Regan, Vyvienne Long, Jack L, Stephen Shannon, Charlie Winston, Tom Baxter and Mary Barnecutt, and appears on album recordings by these artists. Education is a core focus for Max. In London he setup SongRise, an education initiative providing Songwriting workshops for children in Hackney in conjunction with The Premises Studios and the Arts Council. He currently teaches Songwriting at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in Dublin (BIMM), and is working with them to develop new and improved forms of creative arts education delivery. Establishing himself in a role as student and co-creator, Max models learning behaviour by presenting and revealing his own creative process in learning communities online for the benefit of students in BIMM. This has also resulted in new original song material from Max, which will likely appear on a new album planned for release early in 2018. Max has recently completed two new EPs of solo piano work, Iris and Fern, which are available to download from Bandcamp, iTunes and all streaming services.
