简介

“She’s good. She’s damn good.” Sting’s summation of his duet with singer songwriter Diane Durrett speaks for anyone who’s ever heard her perform. A Memphis reporter once wrote that Diane’s performance was so powerful that “If you don’t go see her she may just come see you!” With a blend of raw soulful vocals, sultry tones and strong original songs Durrett has sung with or opened for Sting, Tina Turner, Delbert McClinton, The Indigo Girls, Faith Hill, Patty Loveless, Gregg Allman and Derek Trucks. Durrett's 2009 CD release Blame it on my DNA, recorded and mixed at Tree Sound Studios and various songs tracked at After Dark Designs, gives listeners another reason to celebrate her insightful and sometimes humorous soulful music. Producer Ike Stubblefield brings a groovy twist to Durrett’s songs. From the bluesy title track, "Blame it on my DNA" to the funky “Cook it up” to the sexy R&B "In Between Times." Blame it on my DNA will take you from laughing and dancing to loving. Durrett’s CD includes guest star appearances by drummer Bernard Purdie (Chain, Chain, Chain), jazz trumpeter Joey Somerville and the late Donnie McCormick playing his infamous chicken coop. Recording artists Caroline Aiken, Donna Hopkins and Ralph Rodenberry lend their soulful pipes on background vocals. Grant Green, Jr., Oliver Wood (The Wood Brothers), Mark Johnson (Delta Moon), and Markham White lend their guitar licks, rhythms and riffs. Durrett’s co-writters include producer Ike Stubblefield, Nashville’s Jimbeau Hinson (Hillbilly Highway), King Mojo artist Liz Melendez and former STAX records William Bell (Born Under A Bad Sign). Bell’s classic soul style rings true on “Better off than on”. 2009 also brings the release of Durrett’s first book, Driving Music City. Her memoir is a collection of true stories and song lyrics primarily about her experiences as a limo driver in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as highlights from her singing career while earning a place on Music Row as a singer/songwriter. Durrett chauffeured some of the greatest stars in the pop and country music industry. She gives readers an insider’s view of the off-stage personalities of some our favorite celebrities including Steven Tyler, Elton John, Vince Gill, Chet Atkins, The Rolling Stones, Courtney Love and so many more. Durrett has long reflected the musical passions that inspired her while growing up in Atlanta, GA. From her energy-driven breakthrough debut 50,000 Volts of Soul (1993) to her superbly executed Rhythm of Life (1998) to her acoustically-driven CHILL (2004), to the LIVE CD, Georgia On the Groove (2007). Her song catalogue includes co-writes with the likes of Bonnie Bramlett (Superstar), Jerry Ragovoy (Piece of My Heart), Emily Sailers (Gallileo) and Kristen Hall (Baby Girl). In 2004 the American Cancer Society selected the song “Whatever Makes Your Soul Sing,” co-written with Jayne Olderman, as the theme of a nationally distributed DVD. In 2006 “What if Everybody Wins” was featured in the soundtrack for the film The Unseen which was televised on the BRAVO network and distributed by BLOCKBUSTER. With her 2009 release of Blame it on my DNA Durrett continues her musical expedition towards defining her soulful voice and creating colorful songs.
