简介
THE STORY . House of David has been taking audiences across the east coast by storm for over 5 years now and making hit after hit for almost 10. Why then does the name seem foreign to you? It could be that you have just been blind to the hottest sound ever to come out of Toronto Canada, but more than likely (unless you're an avid concert attendee) it is because up until now House of David has never commercially released a single song or video. Truth be told, House of David's electrifying stage performances and captivating songwriting is what has kept the group in high demand as well as driven them to 2004's official CD release titled "Get On Up!". Powered by heart pulsing Rhythms and smooth melodies, House of David Productions (yes House of David is a fully functional production company) is without question the name to follow as they take urban gospel to the next level of growth. House of David was started by the dynamic duo Craig Doyle Henry a.k.a. "Deputy True" and brother Sheldon "Simple Shel" Henry in 1997, when the two started producing Hip-Hop and Reggae beats in their parents basement for both themselves and a slew of other budding gospel acts in the Greater Toronto area. After performing at just a few local shows, the response was so overwhelming that the brothers decided to make it official by linking with the strongest artist they had at the time, Jermaine Cowan a.k.a. "Godz Messenjah" and coming together under one name House of David. The vision was simple. Create an urban house of praise where they and other artists who shared their David like passion for the Lord could create and record urban music that was truly fit for a king. With no money and no major label support, the House of David production team successfully completed its first CD "House of David the E.P" in the year 2000. Featuring a rich blend of Hip-Hop, R&B and Reggae the independent CD sold like Coca-cola when the group performed in shows with Grammy Award winners Trinitee 5:7, Grammy Nominees Winans Phase 2 and Reggae Superstar Papa San. Although they delivered memorable performances building a strong fan base, a lack of professional management somewhat hindered their growth and in 2001 the group was beginning to fall apart due to financial shortcomings and the stresses of everyday life as starving artists. Fortunately in 2002 House of David got together for one more show in Springfield Massachusetts, where destiny was about to have her way. Among the 500 plus audience on their feet that night was an accounting executive from Universal Music Group who was not only blown away by the performance but would eventually become the groups much needed professional management. After being exposed to a staggering amount of hit songs along with the deep well of diverse talents within the House of David, Management quickly realized that an average recording contract would not cut it for these trend setting visionaries. Instead Rose-Marie Mitchell a.k.a. "Cool" Rose made a personal investment of sleepless nights and just a few thousand dollars to take the young men of House of David from obscurity to a household name.
