This album is the first full-length CD release. It features twelve songs, some of which date back as far as 2005. Opening up the album, the title track is a faster-paced rock anthem dedicated to all of us out there who choose to be different from the crowd. Next up is the punchy, guitar-centered "Today is Heaven." Although the band has never focused too much on lyrical content or meaning, some songs do have an underlying message or story. For instance, the third song, "Regret," is based around bad memories from just before the band started (not to mention, it's somewhat of a crowd favorite). The fourth song, "Sputnik," was written about the lovable little satellite (inquire for the full story). Following "Sputnik" is the catchy, somewhat poppy track, "Call it Off." This bouncy song will probably get stuck in your head after you give it a listen. Now for the slow tune. A very simple song, "Jessie," only has acoustic guitar and vocals, but the melody is what carries it. Coming out of the acoustic track, "Agenda," bursts in, expressing the feeling of summer coming around when you're still in high school. Close behind is "Generic." The titled speaks for itself, as far as the lyrics go. The melody is simple, but ever fitting. The tenth song, "Five," is a semi-ballad rocker with slower, calmer verses with loud, crunchy choruses. Next up is the song, "Algebra." This song was written about how silly it seems to learn certain things, when you will almost never need to know them again in your life. "Foil" then comes in, giving the album one last slow song before the final blast that is "One Gallon Plastic Jars." Some of the older songs have rather silly, or youth-based lyrics, but the way they were written, they can sometimes be related to any point in your life. Above all else, the melody is what has always been the focus in song creation. The album was recorded in November '09 on a multi-track cassette recorder, giving it a bit of a warmer, analog sound. After waiting for so long to cut an album at a studio, the band decided to record it at home with their own equipment. This album represents (fairly accurately) the band from its creation to 2009.
