Chasing Daylight is a compilation of stories and thoughts that have poured out of me over many years. I set out trying to make something that moved me and made me think about life on this crazy planet we call home. This album and everyone that played a part, whether big or small in the making of this album means the world to me. All songs, lyrics and artwork were created, drawn, written, produced, recorded, arranged, engineered, and mixed by me at Dirty Paws Studio. This album was mastered by Iain MacDonald at Product London Studios. -- The Story Behind Speck of Light -- Sometimes songs take years to write and other times they can just flow out of you in a matter of an hour. This was one of those tunes that just came to me one afternoon. Speck of Light is about a man who somehow found himself trapped in a room...whether he was physically trapped, or just trapped inside his head and thoughts is up for debate and is ultimately up to you. Throughout the song the main character begins trying to figure out why he is there, why he is trapped inside his mind that is this empty room with nothing to keep him company other than a dustpan and a broom. He tries and tries to figure out why he is there and what he's doing inside his own head. As he begins to try and make some sense of it all he spots a tiny speck of light shining in through a hole in the roof of this dark room. He dreams of his hopes and his home and who he loves and takes a hold of that hope as a means to get out of his own head. ---- "...the perfect blend of alternative, funk and folk for a winter's night." ~Borders Books ...a subtle mix of Dave Matthews and Iron & Wine.
