简介
“Hunter Street” is a collection of songs that SiB wrote mainly whilst living on Hunter Street in Abbotsford before relocating to New York over the 2009 summer. These are songs about yearning, loneliness, obsession, passionate and destructive love, the tortuous road to moral and spiritual redemption but also about hope, tortured minds and betrayed souls longing for a tender and simple emancipated love and appreciation… The title track “Hunter Street" is a blues in the spirit of Robert Johnson: one man, a guitar and a slide. It was written while playing a steel resonator guitar after too many beers and Whiskey shots during a hot summer night in a bare apartment without air conditioning down in Brooklyn. It is a song about a man waiting on the front porch for his lover to come home and let him in into her sweet perfumed home and arms. As he waits for her for way too long, he soon realises that she will never come back because she met another man and as the betrayal feeling sinks in, the wind blows into his ears the name of her new found lover… “Hunter Street” is SiB’s second EP to date. These recordings are raw, soul-baring and captured the unique dynamics between the band members fuelled by powerful fuzzed up guitars and vintage tones alongside with great Soul sensitivities. The concept behind “Hunter Street” was to record all the songs live in the studio with only one motto: 2 to 3 takes per song and keep the best take. This attitude was also kept during the vocal overdubs. The magic was captured by Colin Leadbetter at Bakehouse Studio in North Fitzroy on a cold Monday night back in May 2010. All overdubs were record at his studio, The Mammoth’s Lair, over a couple of days fallowed by another couple of days of mixing under SiB’s direction. “Soul explosion”, “smooth, soulful and somewhat sultry”, “elegiac balladry”, “electrifying soundscapes”, “languorous” and “wondrous noises” are words used by music journalists who have attempted in the past to describe SiB’s music. French-born Australian singer-songwriter Adrien Siboulet (aka SiB) says “It all comes from the blues for me. I think there’s a healing process through the song, there’s salvation.” Joined by Joe Cope on the Hammond organ (Eagle & The Worm), Luke Bolton on bass (Whitley) and Pete Marin on drums (Dan Sultan), SiB will be launched his second EP “Hunter Street” at iconic Melbourne rock venue The Tote on Thursday 21st of October 2010.
