“Jail dem!” is a song about corrupt political leaders and institutions that prey on, and make slaves of, populations. “Jail dem!” speaks of the cruel actions taken by the political leaders against the starving children of the land, whose plight was created by those they placed their trust and hopes in to end their poverty. “Jail dem!” highlights the injustice that has become the everyday life of the poor, while those who created their anguish are not being charged for their crimes. “Jail dem!” is a call to awaken the masses from their deadly lethargy and let them know that their leaders are not above the law and must be held accountable. On the scale of justice, every individual is equal.
