Tempest/Timberline is the result of two years of life experience, and subsequent writing, following Young. The album takes a more matured look at life compared to his first album, Young; a little darker and a little more serious. Influences of folk, rock, country, and pop give added life to the singer/songwriter core of Sky's second album. Juxtaposition plays a large theme throught the tracks, as does the forever burning, flickering idea of hope despite the darkness.
