Why instrumental music? Our music does not need lyrics, we like to tell stories through sounds and textures, we have never felt the necessity to use vocal arrangements, we like to believe that a song without lyrics can be understood equally by one person in one country as with another from the other side of the world. The Polar Dream come from Guadalajara in Mexico, the Polar Dream represent a more familiar, melodramatic approach with a cinematic feel. In typical post-rock way, ‘The Mountain’ sets the scene in epic fashion. Towering guitars and twinkly melodies are all mixed up. ‘La Aldea’ is similarly bombastic but the inclusion of a melodica and trumpets on this track and the accordion for the utterly charming. ‘Aurora At My Window’ adds unique elements. The group largely favour loud over quiet but – despite its opening shot of crashing waves – the piano-driven ‘Endless Tale’ adds much-needed subtlety, whereas ‘Leaves In The Sky’ also deserves a mention with its swooping key changes reflecting a sense of romantic longing. What is most impressive about ‘Follow Me To The Forest’ is that it is resolutely tuneful -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ¿Porque música instrumental? Nuestra música no necesita letras, nos gusta contar historias a través de sonidos y texturas, nunca hemos sentido la necesidad de interactuar con las palabras cantadas, nos gusta creer que una canción sin letra puede significar lo mismo para una persona en un país como para otra del otro lado del mundo. Sería muy injusto encasillar a esta banda en un sólo género musical, sin duda ofrecen diversas variantes que utilizan a su conveniencia, desde el post-rock hasta melodías más bien clásicas en el piano, desde una base rockera hasta el shoegaze, desde el rock ambiental hasta las texturas más detallistas dignas de una banda sonora, lo que hace de sus canciones algo distinto y fresco que los distingue como únicos en el panorama nacional. Follow me to the forest lleva de la mano una serie de atmósferas creadas con guitarras, pianos y multitud de sonidos creados con campanas, melódicas o xilófonos, que dan como resultado melodías épicas, fantásticas y envolventes.
