"Men To Be" is a deeply emotional album for HMCo. The Title Song deals with the loss of two great men in the lives of my wife, my brother and I. These men were so different, yet so much the same. We lost these men, our true fathers, within two weeks of each other in 2012. This is the first song I wrote. David Hodges plays percussion and sings harmony. David Webb played the beautiful Bass Guitar arrangement. "Between The Seasons" was conceived while driving back to Knoxville, TN from Charleston, SC. My family and I love Tennessee and the Carolinas. (North and South) My wife and I speak frequently about buying a cabin in the mountains and a cottage by the beach. This song describes some of our experiences we have shared in these places. David Hodges & Carla Winchester sing harmony. "We Met We" is a song about how my wife and I met. It is a fun, upbeat story about our lives from when we first met through where we imagine we will end up. It was a very fun song to write. Carla Winchester & David Hodges sing harmony. Brandon Blanchard plays the Lead Guitar riffs. I finished it while in studio. "Being With You" is a very upbeat song about being with the one you love and having fun. I love this song. The harmonies with David Hodges & Carla Winchester are beautiful, the guitar playing (especially the solo by Brandon Blanchard and Bass Guitar by David Webb) is awesome. I enjoyed playing Acoustic Guitar very much on this song. I wrote it after I started in the studio. This song was not planned for this EP. "Country Strong" (for Teresa) This was the most difficult song to record. David and I lost our cousin in September of 2012 to Cervical Cancer, one month before my wife, brother and I lost our fathers. She was more like a sister. I can' begin to put into words what a great woman of faith, friend, wife and mother she was. This song deals with her fight from getting the news through her death. Teresa loved her High Heel Shoes and achieved her goal of wearing them again. She touched the lives of so many, specifically a nurse who saw the love displayed by her husband and twin sons during her treatments and hospital stays. I barely made it through recording this song. Brandon Blanchard at Translucent Studios did an awesome job capturing the exact feel and sound I desired and his Lead Guitar work is raw and passionate. David Webb added a very suttle, yet powerful Bass accompaniment. It is a beautiful song. We truly hope you enjoy these songs, they are from my heart.
