Hailing from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Dave Carr has crafted a distinctive brand of adult contemporary neo-soul music. Music from the debut album titled 'Asmara' gingerly moves through a stream of emotional conscientiousness; the songs' titles reflect the tones of the messages with nary a spoken word. Carr is able to communicate with listeners famously through his instrumental songs. The album's first track 'Braids' pays homage to stoop-sitting hair braiding sessions. The lilt of 'Joyous' flutters and 'Swivel' hits the hips with abandonment. 'Gaze' is wrapped in a sweet piano love hook while 'Honey' begs for a slow dance partner. The highest low point of the album is the forlorn 'Crumble' which places a wry face on the real terrors of depression. Carr has included a special tribute song for President Barack Obama and family titled 'Obama'. The track is beautifully arranged with a hook Carr calls "presidential". 'Reminisce', 'Sandbox', and 'Supreme' round out a wonderful debut album from Dave Carr.
