简介
The Little Big Band, "the little band with the big sound", is a 7-piece jazz band based in Rockford, IL. and offers some of the best big band, swing and jazz music available in the area. The band swings it’s way through arrangements from the standard jazz fare of the 50’s & 60’s up through more contemporary selections from the 80’s & 90’s. The band has been together since 1997 and was originally just a 5-piece group. The original members were all from Rockford, Illinois where they could be seen on thursday evenings at Mary’s Market a local Bistro. The band has since been enlarged to include two more horns and a much bigger sound. The front line consists of co-leaders Ken Stein on tenor, alto, clarinet & flute & Cary Sheley on trombone & vocals. Randy Schneeberger is on trumpet, fluegel horn & vocals and Ken Kilian on bari, alto, clarinet & flute. The rhythm section is lead by Tom Stein on piano, Guy Fiorenza on string bass and Dave Sterner on drums. The majority of the arrangements have been written by Mr. Sheley. Inventive and exciting, they were written to convey the sound of a much larger group. The musician’s have performed locally, nationwide and abroad with such stars as Tony Bennett, Mel Torme and the Manhattan Transfer and the renowned big bands of Dick Jurgens, Jimmie Dorsey, Harry James and Glenn Miller. The group celebrated their 13th year performing together in 2010. The band is often joined on stage by vocalist's Michelle Duvall from Edgerton, WI and Diane Lewis of Fonatana, WI. These ladies are the epitome of class and really show off their talents with each performance. We are very lucky to have them join us in concert.
