简介
A labor of love in time, this album was created one song at a time over a two year period, interrupted with life. The first track of this song was born out of a creative collaboration between me and the amazing Roberto Paolo Riggio, violinist and co-producer on this song, who envisioned a new version of this song inspired by his Mexican background. With Isaac Peña's delicate playing on guitar and requinto, Noah Mosgofian's spot on percussion and Dylan Jones' subtle bass, the song is transformed and renewed. One of my all time favorite songs to perform live and an actor's dream to perform, Je Ne T'aime Pas portrays a woman slowly losing control over her emotions as she tells her lover that she no longer loves him while her insides are screaming of love for him. With Michael Stevens on upright bass depicting the dark mood and the heart beat of the song, the brilliant string arrangement by Roberto Paolo Riggio building a tornado of emotions while the accordion (Mike Maddux), guitar (José Tejeda) and percussion (Noah Mosgofian) support and amplify the breakdown that is the climax of the song. The last track is an original that I wrote in 2009 when my daughters were still very young, in a moment of frustration because I felt like time was slipping away from me, and I was having a hard time being in the moment. This song has gone through many transformation, the latest one arranged by Dr. James Polk, who brilliantly translated my ideas onto paper and made them sound better. It was recorded live with my band, RendezVous, in Austin TX at One2One Bar. What an honor to have had the tickling jazz fingers of Dr. Polk on keyboard, Michael Stevens on bass, Carmelo Torres on percussion, Shirley Johnson on accordion and James Anderson on violin. For these reasons, I decided to put this track on this EP even though it was not recorded in studio. However, Isaac Peña did an excellent job mixing and mastering it with his meticulous musicality and dedication to good music. This EP is special because it was my first, when RendezVous was still finding its footing and the band members more fluid. it was the beginning of a beautiful process and journey that I am still on, learning and growing with every encounter.
