简介
After the successful release, Hearing is Forgetting the Name of the Thing One Hears, Allen returns to form with his new album, Pearls. On these works, he focuses on creating sound for the sake of sound and crafts a dreamy and transcendent world of modern ambient music. These compositions find Allen's musical voice at its most introspective, calmest, and soft spoken. Over the span of four patient movements, Pearls explores broad existential landscapes which expand and contract through a world of majestic textures and liquid morphing melodies. With this work of forward-thinking digital minimalism, Allen has gone deep inside his sound's core, reduced meaning to the fundamentals, and returned with unlocked beauty. ------------------------------- Cory Allen [b. 1982] is an avant-garde composer and producer living in Austin. His highly-produced and often subtle work focuses on the manipulation of human perception through stereo-field vibration and the utilization of a frequency spectrum that exceeds the limit of human hearing. Allen implements self-organizing structures, physical sound models, set pitch classes, computer algorithms, processed electronic sounds, complex sine tones, acoustic instruments, and raw CPU data with which he actualizes eloquent sonic architectures diffused with precise aural artifacts. Allen co-owns and operates Quiet Design Records on which he has curated and produced releases featuring artists such as Alvin Lucier, Tetuzi Akiyama, Jandek, Keith Rowe, Sebastien Roux, Erdem Helvacioglu, Duane Pitre, Yoshio Machida, Kim Myhr, and more. Quiet Design has released works by over 30 artists in 10 countries and celebrates continual international press. Cory's work has been broadcast across the globe and featured by the BBC, American Music Center, WDR3 Germany, Australia’s ABC Radio National, Wire Magazine, Alarm Press, Tokafi, and numerous others.
