Fred “J-Gunz” Phillips grew up on the Westside of Macon, GA in Unionville. He was born on April 24, 1986. J-Gunz has always had a passion for music and wanted to rap. He began rapping while in the 7th grade at Miller Middle School. He’s written several songs under the guidance of his cousin Quentin “Big Baby” Johnson. They started out making music in a storage house which would lead Big Baby to owning a studio and creating his own music label, Big Baby Ent. He put J-Gunz on the label and with a promising future ahead J-Gunz decided he needed help. By this time J-Gunz graduated high school from Central High School, Macon, GA in 2004. He continued his search for a partner through his early years of college and then joined the Marine Corps in 2007 which is where he met Yung E.N.V.Y in 2008.

Chris “Yung E.N.V.Y” Knight grew up on the eastside of Albany, GA. He was born on March 6, 1987. Yung E.N.V.Y lost his father at the age of 12 to a drug related murder and began rapping shortly after at the age of 13. Things for Yung E.N.V.Y would never be the same again. His mother kicked him out at the age of 15 forcing him to find his own way. Although he lived place to place he never stopped rapping. His Aunt took him in at 16 and he went on to graduate from Dougherty High School, Albany, GA in 2005. Yung E.N.V.Y rapped with several groups but was always a solo rapper until meeting J-Gunz. They met in 2008 while serving in the Marine Corps.

HoodStarz is made up of 2 members, J-Gunz & Yung E.N.V.Y. They met while serving in the Marine Corps in 2008 and have been rapping together ever since. They brought two different styles of rap together to form the ultimate collaboration. Yung E.N.V.Y is the smooth talking mack of the group while J-Gunz brings his stay strapped gangsta swag to the group. HoodStarz is currently signed to BBE, Big Baby Ent., which is an independent local label out of Macon, GA. The first single off the album is “Killin Em Ft.
