简介

1) Little Phil, known to his contemporaries as the little guy with the big voice, had a national hit at the tender age of fourteen. Fast forward twenty years and Little Phil starts Volume 2 of this album series with “It’s the Same Old Thing”. The song is about the frustration that occurs when a once close and loving relationship begins to fall apart. One person wanting to reconnect usually takes it harder as the other begins to become more distant and non communicative. Anyone that’s experienced this dilemma will surely relate to this tune. 2) The best way of describing the group “New Money” is to imagine a sort of Southern version of Fleetwood Mac but without the Southern drawl. Fronted by the excellent vocal styling of songstress Linda Hynes, the tune “It’s Hard” also known as “Hard Beginnings” reflects the state of the economy and everyday social and relationship problems of the late 1970s and early 1980s. 3) “Roll With Me” sung by Bill Sheffield with Liane Webb singing counterpoint to Bill’s lead vocal is a hard driving rock tune with a soaring key and vocal change. Sheffield known to his peers as one of the most dynamic singers to appear on all three indie rock, blues and Americana music scenes is a true delight to fans of those genres. 4) Starfoxx, a classic rock band with sound like no others in the 1970s, was recognized by Gladys Knight at the Grammy Awards after one their diverse tunes charted nationally in Record World magazine. This tune off their studio album features some early usage of synthesizers coupled with multiple vocal harmonies for a unique “flowing effect”. Anyone into the great analog sounds of the past will appreciate “Another Day”, a tune about being a cheating boyfriend that realizes he screwed up leaving the best girlfriend he could possible have. 5) “Goin’ Fishing” is a ribald rock tune by Barrelhouse Bob Page, a multi-talented piano player and singer in four music genres - Rock, Blues, Dixieland and Swing. It’s all about taking his girlfriend to a fishing hole with no intentions of actually fishing. 6) This is a tune for the ladies that have an egocentric boyfriend or lover that thinks he’s God’s gift to everyone and several cuts above the rest. Delanna Brody belts out her frustration with such a stressful situation that can’t be rectified by reason in “Who Do You Think U R” 7) “Spice In My Life” is an upbeat New Orleans type rocker by Bluesman and movie star Sammy Blue. Sammy has performed on four continents and appeared in two movies, Clint Eastwood’s “Trouble With The Curve” with Justin Timberlake and Amy Adams and “We Are Kings” in which he had the lead role. For a happy tune with that Marti Gras party type feel, “Spice” will fill the bill. 8) Butch Cooper provides the vocal on “Lucille”, a bluesy rocker all about a relationship with someone that he loves but doesn’t love him that is driving him crazy. Butch is both a songwriter and drummer that has written catchy tunes for others that have charted nationally and also sings some of them for himself. Recently, he has built a network of Doo Wop fans, a fave music genre of his that he also performs under the name as Butch & The Teardrops. 9) “In The Air” is a tune from the psychedelic period of rock by the Night Shadows, a group that has achieved cult status among Garage Rock aficionados and collectors. Originally a B-side single, this track was also on their 1968 vinyl album, The Square Root of Two, that now sells for more than $2500 in mint condition to high rolling collectors. 10) Rockin’ Rick Ware’s tune is a Pop Rock song about an overly enamoured lover that is on the brink of obsession over someone. “She Controls My Heart” means what it says in its lyrics and catchy melody that makes it a true delight for those like music that is not in your face with hostile attitude. 11) Judy Argo was a multi-talented singer that could perform extremely well in several, vastly different music genres. Even though beginning as a young teenager in a Rock and R&B band, she had also been allowed to sing in cabarets, her fave type of venue and music. Often compared to having the looks of Elizabeth Taylor in her heyday and a voice that some say surpassed Judy Garland, she was also capable of belting out raspy Blues-rock. “See See Rider” is a live performance of that public domain classic featuring her gutsy side. Judy also appeared on the “Tonight Show” when Joey Bishop was a guest host while Johnny Carson was on vacation.
