简介

Andrew Austin is a musical man of mystery; the diversity of his influence and talent gives him an unexpected style that's hard to pin down. Austin writes groove-based acoustic rock with infectious melodies, infused by Motown soul. His new single 'No Flowers' is a testament to Austin's upbeat outlook, in the face of a reality that is sometimes not so pleasant. Co-produced with David Hermiston (Donovan Woods, BARZIN) and recorded at Inception Sound Studios in Toronto, ON, 'No Flowers' is the first of a series of singles that proves Austin's songwriting talent and rightful place on the Canadian scene. The single, 'No Flowers' is a catchy and misleadingly upbeat rock tune about leaving with dignity. The Royal Wood-esque 'So Easy' is an introspective and haunting ballad that turns epic and ends sweet and sad again. Both songs on the release are about different aspects of letting go of things that are already gone. Having lost his father to cancer as a young child, Austin is no stranger to loss, but also draws inspiration from the personal relationships of those around him. Believing that everyone, to some degree, has desired an unattainable aspect of their past, Austin releases these songs with the hopes that they will resonate and allow people to recognize the importance of focusing on the here and now. As a Sarnia, Ontario teenager, Andrew first cut his teeth playing "Paul" in a popular Beatles cover band. Since then, he has shared the stage with the likes of Andy Kim, Ron Sexsmith, Ron Hawkins, Ed Robertson, Steven Page, Danny Michel, Andy Stochansky and Lukas Rossi. With significant critical success, Andrew's career is off to a great start: CP24 named Andrew their "Top Pick" by for his performance during Canadian Music Week 2009. Andrew provided a hook for “Small Town” on hip-hop artist D.O.’s 2009 album STAY DRIVEN. The International Magazine Awards chose his album, JUST THE WAY I FEEL as 2008 R&B Album of the Year. He was selected as one of the top 18 contestants for Canadian Idol in 2007. Though it might be hard to imagine Andrew as fuel for the idol talent machine, he's had the distinct honour of being the first contestant to play an instrument during a solo performance. The Toronto Indie Music Awards nominated Andrew for Live Band of the Year in 2006. In 2010 he’ll be releasing two tracks every second month for eight months and releasing a full-length album in the summer. He's currently scheduling tours all over Canada for the New Year.
