简介
Contains FIVE unreleased EDDIE HINTON cuts with "The Tuscaloosa All-Stars" and "The 5 Men-its" CHUCK LEAVELL, Keyboards (The Rolling Stones, and The Allman Brothers Band) says, “I was one of those ‘Fortunate Sons’ who was able to make a career in music, and am grateful for growing up in such a rich "proving ground" as Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On this rare recording that Fred Styles found hidden away in a closet, you can hear the beginnings of some of that local talent – The Tuscaloosa All-Stars, The Pacers, and Eddie Hinton. These are early recordings…done way before today's technology emerged. But the enthusiasm comes shining through. Yes, some of the harmonies might be slightly off…and yes, some of the tunes may sound a bit dated…that's because they are! Nevertheless, I love the attitude and exuberance of what this is. Thank heaven these tracks are preserved and thank heaven Fred found them . . . they are great documentations from a wonderful era in a wonderful place.” GREGG ALLMAN says, ‘They were a strong outfit and they were stuck without a singer or a guitarist. It all fell together and we started cooking.’ The new band played Nashville as 'The 5 Minutes'." PAUL HORNSBY, Producer (The Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels, and Wet Willie) “Duane Allman called me once in early 1967 and asked what I thought about our band, The Minutes, teaming up with him and Gregg from The Allman Joys and forming a new group. The result of that call is history – we became “The Hour Glass.” CAMERON CROWE, Writer & Director (Jerry McGuire, and Almost Famous) “They (Duane & Gregg) cruised on down to Nashville, and combined forces with drummer Johnny Sandlin, keyboard artist Paul Hornsby, and ‘a cat called the Wolf’ on bass, part of another fragmented band called The Five Minutes." MIKE DUKE, Keyboards / Songwriter (Wet Willie, and The Outlaws) “I was well on my way to being Wilson Pickett; but seeing ‘The Minutes’ showed me it was possible to get funky & rock. Thanks for a hot show, guys ! Eddie Hinton is like Van Gogh – the beautiful mania right there to see & hear. Pain & love is personified. Listen to him wail!”
