VLMA is a Baltimore trio that like to mold scuzzy guitar riffs, merciless drumming, and throaty yet melodic vocals into dirty punk anthems. Their latest Broken Teeth EP features two new songs that immediately gave me flashbacks of Mudhoney's first EP Superfuzz Bigmuff and Nirvana's pop-laced moments on Incesticide.

The EP starts off with "Thumb Bucket" which morphs from raspy melodies to lung-burning screeches as crunchy riffs and drums slam dance in the background. It's raw with a basement demo feel much like Mudhoney's debut. "RAMJAM" is the standout with a highly addictive sound and hook that had me tapping the back button for an hour. The cut features fuzzy grunge chords and nice noodling colliding with tough acoustic strumming and ear worm melodies. It's in the same realm as the sound on "Molly's Lips" if it was done by a punked-up Foo Fighters in the mid-90s. VLMA made me a fan with their debut, especially everything about "RAMJAM." I'm excited to see what's behind these hazy "demos" because something tells me it's debauched and awesome.
