Friday Da 13th was born John W. Leathem III in the Tonomy Hill Projects of Newport Rhode Island. As is the case with many impoverished youth he gravitated towards the Hip Hop culture at an early age first honing his skills as a graffiti artist, then making the transition to emcee and eventually producer. Always inspired by the struggle, his focus is to help uplift those who have endured similar tribulations, proving to them that it is possible to overcome the perils of poverty while maintaining a positive outlook on life. From Newport’s “largest and most troubled public housing project,”to performing in Manhattan, interning at Bad Boy Records and doing live sound for Donald Trump, Friday Da 13th has shown that no matter how humble your beginnings, if you set your goals high enough and believe in yourself nothing is unattainable.
