This album is more than just music to me, it represents my daily feelings, my life experiences, all those live show moments and the never ending stories in my life! I think somehow, even if it sounds too spiritual, that all of these influences have shaped my music and my sound that is captured on this album. I really do feel that it is important to reflect those feelings, those characters you meet along the way, those moments of transcendence and capture these moments in time reflecting them through my guitar craft and musical composition. This album took me nearly 5 years to make, because of life's great adventures and the continuous live performances and clinic shows. So although the original songs were conceived nearly 4 or 5 years ago, they are, only now, finally being set free for the public to hear, but now with the added sheen and brilliance of a more modern studio production that took place in late 2016. Even mixing and tracking my guitar parts took me much longer than I originally anticipated and like most musicians, no doubt, I may be too picky, never 100% happy, always searching for a little higher ground. It seems that patience is a virtue, and because of the delays I was finally in a position to purchase my own Axe Fx and Pro Tools M-Box Pro interface to record my guitar sound properly. The long gestation period enabled Anup Sastry (Drummer) and Simon Grove (Bassist) to finish their awesome parts. The ebb and flow of the process meant there were moments where I was never sure I could finish the recording and yet I was so desperate to complete this album. I believe this album reflects my growing musical maturity and, from a musical perspective, the album represents the sound that I have been looking to achieve for a long time. More recently, I have been more into the jazz idiom and so I hope that some of this perspective has rubbed off on my playing style augmenting my more aggressive technical metal approach. So what started with a love of Joe Satriani and John Petrucci has blossomed into a more expansive love of complex sounds and tones associated with Jazz and Fusion. Really! Jazz has become an addiction, I am transcribing and learning all I can and this might well be reflected in a later release. But right now, on this release, you’ll hear added harmonic aspects, free flowing improvisation, rather than the traditional rock and metal compositional solo, all brought about by my new found fascination with jazz. In terms of Mixing, this was my first experience doing the work myself. Man, it’s a tough gig and, although the process is painful, it is very rewarding listening to your music the very same way you imagined it, capturing the sound in your head! For me the process was like having a huge piano, where the left hand is as loud as the right hand and you can hear both things clearly and loud, that’s how I think of rhythm and lead guitars work. So, I hope you can find something new in this music and also that it can be enjoyable but also wake up some curiosities in your ears! Meanwhile as this album is coming to fruition, I’m already planning a follow up release, this time hopefully not 5 years time, but you never know it could be 2067! Hedras
