Already with two successful CDs under her belt – Swingin' Rockin' Honky Tonkin' and Wanita and Her Honky Tonk Bar Dwellers Live – in January 2013 she unleashed what many have described as her career album – The Original Wanita. It's 12 tracks of pure Wanita, from her own prolific pen. Many thought of her as the interpreter of some of the greatest songs around, but few knew the secret behind this surprising artist's talents as a songwriter. Some have said she must have had a divine connection to her musical heroes – Hank Williams, George Jones, Jimmie Rodgers, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline – to create the songs that showcase all the styles encompassed on the new disc. Each has her own personal stamp on it, from rockabilly, swing, honky tonk, jazz, blues and rock'n'roll to the purest country you could ever imagine, including a standout bush ballad! At the 2013 Tamworth Country Music Festival, Wanita and Her Honky Tonk Bar Dwellers presented a series of seven shows to capacity audiences at four different venues – the Locomotive, Courthouse and Tudor hotels and the Tamworth Services Club, where The Original Wanita was launched before a standing-room-only crowd. Co-produced by Michel Rose and Michael Vidale, the new disc was recorded in Sydney at Rancom St and Island Boy studios, utilising the finest session musicians in the business.
