简介
Megan Steinke's album "Close to One" is a mix of jazz, acoustic pop, and easy-listening compositions that feature her smooth vocals accompanied by guitar and/or piano (and steel-tongue drum!). The songs relate to her everyday experiences throughout life, and tell stories about the past, friendships, and faith. The single, "Close to One," describes an experience she had at a friend's house. As it says in the chorus, they were sitting by the fire around one in the morning, listening to Amy Winehouse. The part about the shattered glass refers to when Megan knocked a brownie pan on the ground and it completely broke. The rest of Megan's album focuses on her reminiscence, friendships, and her faith. Over the past few years, Megan has really grown in her faith, and yearns to trust God with her everyday life. Through her music, she connects to both her wonderful spiritual experiences ("You Will," "You Waited") and also her doubts in faith ("Speak," "The View"). Lastly, Megan's musical background comes from all over the place. Her mom plays harp ("Who Knew"), her dad plays classical guitar, her sister sings, and her brother plays trombone. She grew up with a large jazz influence, which shows in a lot of her compositions. Megan has 11+ years of experience with classical piano, and has been dabbling with the guitar for a few years now. She has really grown with her singing within the past couple of years, but can remember harmonizing since elementary school. She is also a percussionist, and has played in her school's marching band for a large part of her life. A BIG thank you to all of the family and friends who have supported me with my music, I love you all. Secondly thank you to my mom Crystal Steinke (harp in "Who Knew"), Ryan Gelinas ("Quiet Life"), Kevin Church ("Curious" and all bass), Erin Wagner (violin in "Blood Moon"), and Toby smith (cajon). All music is performed, written, recorded, and mixed by Megan Steinke.
