Corvus Stone are progressive in the sense that they confuse the hell out of people at first. Are they Prog? Rock? Jazz? Avant garde? Melodic and classic? The simple answer is all of those and more. "Then, the blues influence is also obvious in the languid "Mystery man", with its eerie keys and reminiscences of The Beatles' "I want you (she's so heavy)" in the closing section. Rock'n'roll is there as well with the hellish "Purple stone" and a short wink to Deep Purple's "Highway star". Folk music, highlighted by the use of finnish in the lyrics ("Campfire"), has also its place in this monumental album. We don't fit any other genre and in my book, that means we default to the genre called "prog" Listen to each track as tho' it is a single track. Once you "get" it, you should find that the album really flows and makes complete sense. It seems to get deeper and more involved as it moves along. We can promise that YOUR favorite track will not be the same as the next guy's.
