简介

Corvus Stone are progressive in the sense that they confuse the hell out of people at first. Are they Prog? Rock? Jazz? Avant garde? Melodic and classic? The simple answer is all of those and more. Excerpts from reviews: ***This dynamic band is made up of some of today’s most innovative and gifted independent musicians to grace my headphones. If you’re a Prog-rock fan this is your last stop, not much to find that’s beyond Corvus Stone II. This is what happens when you take a virtuoso guitarist, that can play any given amount of beautiful notes in any determined space of time, with a virtuoso keyboardist, who’s shear talent and ability defies all logic, a drummer, that can beat out varied rhythms until your ears go numb, and a bass master, that can, unbelievably, keep up with the other 3 guys in this group!*** Review by Rick Jamm (Journalist, publicist and indie music producer with a fervent passion for electric guitars and mixing desks!) ***First off, there is no real way to categorize this album into one all encompassing musical genre, as the album combines just about every genre you could think of, and even adds a kitchen sink or two to the mix. The musicians involved are all at the top of their field, and they use their talents to craft an album that will continue to reveal many nuances and surprises after even multiple listens...*** Taken from Progarchives. ***" this album is a festival of musical sounds, as diverse as the origin of the musicians involved. While music in general is in the field of progressive rock, it's easy to notice that the band doesn't care about labels. Progressive rock is a means to sublimate their influences rather than an end in itself." "Then, the blues influence is also obvious in the languid "Mystery man", with its eerie keys and reminiscences of The Beatles' "I want you (she's so heavy)" in the closing section. Rock'n'roll is there as well with the hellish "Purple stone" and a short wink to Deep Purple's "Highway star". Folk music, highlighted by the use of finnish in the lyrics ("Campfire"), has also its place in this monumental album. On the other hand, "Uncle Schunkle" with its groovy rhythms and its vintage hammond, recalls the golden age of jazz-funk."*** Review by lucas (Special Collaborator Honorary Collaborator at Progarchives) NOTE FROM THE BAND: We are indeed labelled as progressive rockers but our albums are not "in" that genre in a normal sense. We don't fit any other genre and in my book, that means we default to the genre called "prog" Listen to each track as tho' it is a single track. Once you "get" it, you should find that the album really flows and makes complete sense. It seems to get deeper and more involved as it moves along. We can promise that YOUR favorite track will not be the same as the next guy's.
