简介

George Douglas Lee loves children so much, he refuses to stop being one! He has brought his talents as a playwright, actor, musician and illustrator to the creation of the "Monster Musicals!" CD. The music and stories are audiobook versions of stage plays originally produced at George’s Electric Theatre, as well as others in Texas, Missouri, Kansas and Georgia. George has a BFA in graphic arts & theatre. He has been a children’s entertainer, acting and art teacher for teens and childrenfor over twenty years. George is a performing musician, playing to audiences in Southeast Texas from his home on Galveston Island. "The Wolf Who Cried Boy" is about the famous Big Bad Wolf. The story involves the aging and depressed Wolf's wish to become a little boy, with disastrous but hilarious results. In the end, he finds out that being a little boy is tough, and that nobody gets hurt in FairyLand, where he is wecomed home by friends like Bo Peep, the Three Little Pigs, Fairy Godmother and eccentric Hubert the Genie. Lee provides the voice of the Big Bad Wolf, and wrote the music and lyrics to "Wolf Who Cried Boy" while Englishman Cyril Lavender narrates. "Frankenstein, the Monster Musical" is a musical comedy version of the classic James Whale "Bride of Frankenstein", but has a very original premise, as Lee presents the story as if author Mary Shelley had written it for children. In "Frankenstein, the Monster Musical", the poor monster finally gets the girl! That is George providing the Viennese narration of the whimsical Doctor Vikarious. In "Wolfbane", three down-on-their-luck gypsies convince the townspeople of Vulgaria that a werewolf is in their midst, then proceed to sell them a phony cure, "Eterno", which actually grows hair! The lyrics and music by Lee are melodic and full of gypsy themes and hilarious characters. "Frankenstein, the Monster Musical" was Lee's first produced play, performed in 1992 at Fort Bend Theatre in Sugar Land, Texas. It was a tremendous success and played to sold out houses in its first run. It was produced at several other theatres until George Lee revived it in 2000, directing and acting in it. The CD features the original Fort Bend cast singing to Larry Mistrot's music and Lee's collaborator Mike Cahill's lyrics. "The Wolf Who Cried Boy" was Lee's second produced play, again first performed at Fort Bend Theatre, before being presented at Lee's Electric Theatre. It was another hit, and is available as an illustrated storybook, audiobook and videotape. "Wolfbane" was the third play produced, following "Wolf Who Cried Boy" in 1994, and again premiering at Fort Bend Theatre. With an exceptional cast directed by Mike Cahill, it was a laugh-a-minute send up of the great Universal monster movies of the 40's. Lee provided most of the voices and played all the instruments on this audiobook version, and the narration is woven into the songs. Following "Wolfbane", Lee opened his Electric Theatre in 1994, and began producing original plays, and continuing to write new ones. A sequel to "Wolf Who Cried Boy", entitled "Wolf 'n the Hood", has been published and is available from Lazy Bee in Britain. This one has the Big Bad Wolf being sued by Bo Peep and respresented by Red Riding Hood as defense counsel.
