Pop Singer/songwriter, Alicia Rae, dropped her premiere Sweet Melody EP, filled with captivating hooks and an eclectic collection of musical narratives. In her most recent release, Alicia shines with heart-felt musical storytelling and crisp vocals. Drawing inspiration from love and heartbreak, Alicia combines the contrast of bitter and sweet to form a collection that resonates as truly delightful. The Sweet Melody EP is now available on iTunes. With the release of The Sweet Melody EP, Alicia Rae provides a varying selection of songs that displays her diverse range of talent and style. Leading off with the title track, “Sweet Melody” clicks immediately with the hooking combination of ukulele strumming and Alicia's adoring depiction of falling in love for the first time. In the following track, “Pretty Boy,” crafts a tune of pop perfection painted with dreamy synth and playfully evocative lyricism. Switching gears, Alicia reveals a darker side in the track, “Cupid,” a cautionary tale packed with intense, cinematic imagery. Using the grim metaphor of a gun-toting murderer, Alicia tells the tale of disappointment in an unfaithful lover through the menacing intent of Cupid’s gun in a bitter love affair. “Hide Away” quickly takes listeners back to the lighter sound, Alicia has become known for her sunny styling and upbeat rhythm bursting with optimism and warm acoustic licks. Alicia is best represented with the cheery choral line “Who needs sunshine when I’ve got your smile?” On the closing track, “Fire In Your Eyes,” Alicia brings in the talent of friend and collaborator, Michael Pearsall, of the rock band, Honor By August. Singing a duet of blissful romance, their voices pair perfectly as they harmonize, “There’s a fire in your eyes and it keeps me warm at night.” Singing back and fourth to each other, the track encapsulates the melodious, affectionate and pure experience that Alicia Rae creates in her music. Alicia Rae also teamed up with Chris Rafetto, bass player of Honor By August to record and produce the Sweet Melody EP. Music has always been a part of Alicia Rae’s life, having studied flute as a child, though her passion for songwriting clicked later in life when she picked up her first guitar. At the top of her bucket list was learning guitar and as soon as she began playing, she became completely immersed in writing music, finding a cathartic release in it. Inspired by a fondness for artists like Kina Grannis, Michael Pearsall and Taylor Swift, Alicia immediately found her niche in the sounds of acoustic driven pop. As an advocate for cancer patients and survivors, Alicia Rae aligns her music with this cause, using her stage presence as a voice to spread awareness and help combat cancer. Since the release of her debut single, “Autumn,” Alicia began gracing the stage of legendary venues across the east coast. With an inclination for precious pop and sincere love songs, Alicia Rae has just begun and is full of more musical tricks up her sleeve.
