简介

Montreal based alternative electronic visual band 'TANUKI Project' release their second album 'Far From The City Lights' with their diy label 'Go with the flow'. Their self-produced debut album 'Playground for Everyone', was released august 2010 with Aquarius Records / DKD, along with concerts in Canada such as Canadian Music Week, Montreal Fashion and Design Festival and MEG festival. Songs off the album were also featured in Degrassi episodes, Browns ’Celebrities for Charity' videos, Spring’s War Child and Ford web ads. Fall 2011, they decided to go independant to produce a new EP called 'One By One', and a Tokyo tour during the Japan Music Week. FAR FROM THE CITY LIGHTS Enriched by collaborations with Garrett (ex-cougarettes) for mixing, muGz (on the song 'Dirty Water') and Mic Dainjah from Hippy Mafia (on the song 'Overboard'), the music gets edgy, deep, without compromises: distorted bass lines, industrial synths, driving electro beats and eerie haunting vocals. Flirting with pop, rock and soul influences though still keeping the electronics characterizing TANUKI's unique sound, this record is sexy, dark, with sharp contrasts and committed, cinematic and visual: we find sci-fi stories (on the song 'Bones'), thriller scenes (on 'Clown'), rebellion against racism (on the songs 'Inked' and 'Overboard'), pollution (on 'Dirty Water') but also love stories (on 'Far From The City Lights'). One can feel the visual worlds inspiring those new songs, coming from the band's professional experience in the fields of multimedia arts, like the original soundtrack composition of the successful web viral 3D animation short movie 'I, Pet Goat II' (2M views), directed by Louis Lefebvre ('Final Fantasy', Le Seigneur des Anneaux') and some 2013 coming collaborations with Steambot Studios (Tron Legacy, Prometheus). The first single off the album, High Unholy, sounding like 'The Ting Tings meet Nine Inch Nails' (Alexandre, CH2Ofm), on rotation on the campus radios network since may 2012, gave birth to a disturbing video produced by director Etienne Tallard (Jet Films, Montréal).
