简介
‘Defiance’ is Stormcellar’s 9th album and the final installment of the ‘Mid-West Triptych’ project, a three album arc, written, produced & recorded during 4 years of touring the Mid-west of the United States of America. Starting with the concept album ‘Everywhere Feels Like Home’ and continuing with the local elders of Blues Roots & Gospel on ‘Kansas City Gold’, the Mid West Triptych now ends with the sounds and stories heard whilst touring the American heart land during one of the most tumultuous periods of recent US history. ‘Defiance’ is sound of that time. Recorded & mixed in Indianapolis and featuring a host of Indiana’s favoured sons as guests, including the legendary Larry Crane (John Cougar Mellencamp band), saxophonist Rob Dixon (Ray Charles) and Gene Deer (Indiana Legends Winner), ‘Defiance’ continues the powerhouse songwriting output of one of Australia’s most successful & prolific independent bands. Stormcellar’s trademark refusal to stick to one genre or format and their willingness to take risks sees them chance their arm at everything from Tom Petty inspired ballads to straight up Indie Rock, to work written with Illinois poet Rick Lyon. Produced in collaboration with Alan Johnson, whose credits include John Fogerty, Kid Rock & Paul Rodgers, ‘Defiance’ completes the Mid West Triptych in the same manner as modern performers of traditional styles finish their shows – throw out the rules and end fast and loud. And no one knows how to write American Midwest Rock quite like Australians.
