简介

Third Kind is a group from Baltimore MD, comprised of 5 members, all from various upbringings and lifestyles, united under the culture of hip hop. Robben Beatz and Dj Krucial provide the sounds, while Fat Boi aka Moody, Depth Cef , and Dwell, provide lyrical beat downs!! Intense, intelligent, relentless, no embellishments, original, creative, and always underrated, Hip Hop. Third Kind, Culture refinement engineers. Robben Beatz and Fat Boi came together around the year 2000. They recorded a couple of songs, under the moniker “Fat Man and Robben”, that got a few spins on the local college hip hop show, Morgan States Strictly Hip Hop. A year later Cef and Dwell teamed up with them and Third Kind was born. In the fall of 2002, they dropped their first independent, self manufactured EP, “First Encounter“. The EP did well locally and Third Kind started getting noticed by the starving, Baltimore hip hop scene. In 2003, while the name Third Kind was still hot, they dropped their second EP, “Predatorial Editorials“, which showcased the growing cohesiveness and song crafting abilities of the group. The release of this EP was followed by a ton of local and out of state shows. Not only was Third Kind gaining respect for being one of the top underground groups in Baltimore. They also gained recognition for having one of the best live performances in the city. Some of the shows they have performed in were the Vans Warped Tour and the DMC World DJ Championships. They have also shared the stage with a number of recognizable artists such as Little Brother, Kool G Rap, Non Phixion, Immortal Technique, Masta Ace, Q-unique and Freestyle of Arsonists fame, Cappadonna, Wordsworth, Akir, Sev Statik, and Baltimore’s Comp. Third Kind has also performed with groups from other a number of other genres, such as Billy Idol , Cold Play , The Foo Fighters , Sum 41 and Garbage just to name a few. Around the same time Third Kind was coming up. DJ Krucial was building a pretty strong name on the Baltimore scene as well. When DJ Krucial, the all star DJ from the elements show (voted best hip hop show in Baltimore) DJ’d one of Third kind’s self promoted show’s, the chemistry was felt right away. Krucial fit right in! He even sat in and DJ’d for Third Kind that very night. The next day Krucial became the fifth and final member of Third Kind. After spending time on the Vans Warped Tour with Non Phixion. Third Kind and Sabac Red started to build. As their friendship grew Third Kind asked Sabac if he would collaborate with them on their new album. Sabac accepted and gave them a hot 16 bar verse for their first single, “Everybody Knows“. The single was released on November 7th, 2005 and rose to number 2 on the National College radio charts. During the time between “Predatorial Editorials”, and now, Third Kind has been relentlessly recording material. Three years in the making, and an ever evolving track list later (The master CD was changed an hour before being sent to the manufacturer), “Disaster Relief” is the culmination of all the hard work, Third Kind has been putting in. Boasting Guest appearances by artists, Local, National and International, this album shows the respect Third Kind has for where they’ve come from and their determination to reach people at home and abroad. This being the first official release by Third Kind, they intend to leave their mark, by establishing a distinct sound and delivering music that is honest and creative. To be released 5/16/2006, on Sweatbox recordings.
