Micah 6:8 asks the question, “what does the Lord require of you?” to which the response is, “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

The idea behind this project was first conceived at The Salvation Army Canada & Bermuda Territory’s National Music Camp in the summer of 2008. During one of our small group discussions, I was personally challenged to find a way to use the gifts and talents that God had given me to do what He requires of me, specifically to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. I knew that God had given me a passion for music, a passion that I was eager to feed and develop, but the challenge I had was to find a way to use my musical passion and skill for His purposes. I have found that it is very difficult to be both a Christian and a musician. This may seem like a ridiculous statement considering the number of Christian musicians; however I personally find it a challenge because when I devote so much time to developing a skill, it is hard to not be the one to receive the glory. During this particular small group session, I started praying and searching for a way to make sure that I am giving God the glory when I exercise the gifts and talents He has given me, and also using these gifts and talents for the betterment of His Kingdom. It wasn’t long before God revealed to me how He could use me in this way. This recording, one where 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the work of the Salvation Army, is the fruit of those prayers.
