Teta Mona / SHEENA Teta has moved through enough phases to complete her own full moon cycle. Mariateresa Colamonaco, in arte Teta Mona, is a young singer, musician and painter. She began her musical journey as a child, playing the piano. From the beginning, she seems more interested in the "song" rather than the classical study of the instrument, but the piano gives her the fundamental basis for approaching the world of music. Over the years, she continues to study with the collaboration of good teachers. Teta is initially a bossanova and jazz singer, but after a degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures chooses to live in London to play the drums. In the United Kingdom, the artist manages to get rid of the schemes imposed by the classical approaches and can focus more on improvisation. Here, she formed Screaming Tea Party, a cult psychedelic/punk band from London, England. The band original lineup consisted of Koichi Yamanoha(Bass Guitar/Vocals), Teta Colamonaco (Drums/Vocals) and Niiyan (Guitar). The band's debut EP Death Egg was released through Stolen Recordings on 9 July 2007 in the United Kingdom. Critics have identified noise pop and psychedelic rock elements in their sound. In September 2008, They were also featured in the "Blinded by the Light" episode of the TV series FM, playing the songs "Today is the Day" and "Death Egg". Teta and Koichi Yamanoha ( now Grimm Grimm - ATP records ) still share a unique and intense relationship and often perform together. In 2007, she moved to New York where started several interesting projects, and a record label. She plays in the psychedelic and wild "Tribal Town Center" inspired by the native dell'Okemah (Oklahoma), country of Woody Guthrie; she plays all over New York City in rock'n'roll projects as bass player, singer, drummer, tamburine player... Once back from USA, Teta started playing her songs accompanied only by a small set of drums. In reality this not a duo, but an "Unicum". Teta in unclear circumstances meets "The Magus" a drummer-entity 'with a particular artistic mind, which set his thoughts in a kind of spiral cycle, little is known about him, he talks little about herself. And he does speak in his own way. His creative intelligence has affected the artist very much. Their live shows are psychedelic, minimal, esoteric. Sometimes it seems that instead of playing they are praying to a neverending mantra. The duo will soon be added by organs/ moogs and electric guitars played by Teta. They records a super rare vynil called " Magus Thief Of Flowers " at RCA studio in Rome with Maestro Maiorana. Few examples of songs from that period can be found in her repertoire , song such as " Balck Hole " and " Medieval " In 2012, In London, Teta met Dylan Carlson of Earth ( SUbPop) and toured UK and Ireland ) after the release of "La Strega and the Cunning Man in the Smoke" for the unique Latitude Series, by Southern Records. In 2013, a deep and unexpected family disaster forced Teta to move back to her native Italy. in 2014, she starts her journey back to "her roots" and " Sheena " represents the perfect synthesis of her musical journey so far, chosen to be played with the sounds of her own Land.
