简介

Michael Arthur was born in Manitouwadge, a small copper mining town in northern Ontario. After living in Toronto as a small boy, his family ended their nomadic travels and settled in Lagoon City on Lake Simcoe, Ontario where he spent summers canoeing, swimming, chasing dragonflies and chipmunks, with snowy winters spent snowmobiling and ice fishing. He attended elementary school in Brechin, and High School in Orillia before completing a four-year Bachelor’s degree. After living in various places throughout Canada over many years he is happy to again call his native Southern Ontario home. There really is no place like home! Michael’s musical heritage is rich and deeply rooted, and his talents were evident from early childhood. He fondly remembers his début of sorts, singing at a party when he was only five years old and won a talent show in high school singing The Gambler. His father sang professionally as did his uncle Larry ‘Dee’, who played with Tommy Hunter and is still revered as one of Canada’s best pedal steel guitar players. His talents have been put to good use and led him to spend time at the prestigious Irene Besse Academy of Music in Calgary teaching vocals and song writing. He was also given the honor of serving as a National Judge for the Covenant Awards, judging music by artists such as Brian Doerkson, Jars of Clay, Down Here and many others. Known as a talented vocalist, songwriter and guitar player, Michael also plays several other instruments including bass, drums, African djembe, bongos, piano and more. After years of honing his musical talents he has written and produced his debut CD entitled Don't Go Slow. It is scheduled for release on September 27, 2013 and features many of Canada’s best musicians. Michael has written the lyrics and music for the entire record and is joined by Barry Haggarty on guitar (Ronnie Hawkins), Don Reed on fiddle (Dwight Yoakam), Al Brisco on pedal steel guitar (Carroll Baker), Steve O’Connor on keyboard (Blue Rodeo), Andrew Affleck on bass and Ken Post on drums.
