Having had the good fortune to play a number of gigs with these fantastic musicians over the past few years, I wanted us to make a recording together, and I’m very grateful to John, Tom and Henry for their enthusiastic response and their great playing on all these tracks, and to Sir George Martin and Giles Martin for their generous help enabling the project. Thanks also to Esme Howard for his early input and continued support, Will Bartlett for his always insightful and honest feedback and Aisling Lavelle, without whom this recording would still be languishing on my hard drive. The selection of tunes reflects my interests in different sides of the jazz repertoire: standards form the backbone of the album, sometimes with a lot done to them, sometimes very little. There are some compositions of mine and a few compositions by jazz icons like Thelonious Monk and Earl Hines. It’s a blend of Everything I Love. - Sam Hogarth
