Miss Baas “M1553225” EP info Miss Baas biography: Miss Baas aka Nastya Staisha born in a small Russian town grew up in an actors family. She travelled a lot, together with her parents, to many cities across the former Soviet Union during their touring. They had moved several times, living in different cities of Russia and Ukraine, until her parents finally settled in Moscow. Where her mother started working in the old and notorious Moscow's Yermolova theatre. “Till 7 years old I was a backstage kid!” So that’s how it came along that Miss Baas was involved in music since the early childhood. At the age of 7 she started studying in a music school and graduated with distinction. When she was 10, she was singing in the children's choir of the infamous Bolshoy theatre and participated in many operas, finally spending several months in the US as a soloist of her music school's choir, singing gospel in protestant churches at the age of 14. Since 17 she studied at the Moscow's jazz&pop music college where she was lucky with her vocal guru, Anna Rudnyeva, the acknowledged teacher of many Russian pop stars, who helped her to develop her singing skills to a higher level. It was during her time in college, that she started working on her solo project taking Staisha as a stage name. Mixing soul and hip-hop music, she soon started having a couple of successful hits such as "Noty Dushi", that heavily rotated on radio, and "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" whos video hold almost for a month the first line of MTV Russia Top10 chart. Being involved in the hip-hop movement she collaborated with many famous Russian hip-hop artists like Noize MC, ST and Kravz, beautifying their hits with her hooking choruses. During that time Nastya passed through a personal tragedy and a civil struggle as her sister died in a road accident caused by the vice-president of an oil corporation. It took a big media campaign with the use of the power of music to attract public attention and prevent it from being silenced by the police and FSB, who had deleted evidences from surveillance camera and covered the top-manager tightly linked to the Russian force structures. Nastya later participated in the Voice of Ukraine TV Show, where she made two tutors turn at the blind auditions and made it up to the quarter final. But the image of Staisha as a crying soul diva and the opportunities that the local pop scene offered didn't fit Nastyas own vision of herself as an artist. Her long-time love for reggae and dancehall music finally changed everything! It took several years to find her unique style by singing in Russian, English and Jamaican Patois. While she was touring as a support act with a Russian reggae artist RasKar, her new material was warmly accepted by the European audience, the new project was finally shaped as Miss Baas! The debut single and video for the track “Run Dat” opened a new page in Nastyas` professional biography. February 19th an EP of 5 new, fresh songs is to be released alongside the video for the second single “Barb Wire”. Remarkable both for a serious deep message and a creative implementation. EP track by track: 01. “M1553225” The representing track that antecedes the whole project. The name of the whole project is basically taken from this track. A weird fusion of 808 tonal kicks and hip-hop style roots-brass sample is a good illustration for the style of Miss Baas's project! 02. “Run Dat” [1.SINGLE!] This song was inspired by the sound-system culture and is dedicated to all the soundbwoys with mighty sounds. The video was shot in Hamburg, the city where we can say the project Miss Baas was born, portraying probably the most outstanding streetart in the world. Two of oldest German soundsystems - Crucial Vibes and I-Livity were featured in the video. 03. “Barb wire” [2.SINGLE!] Proving that her music is much more than a harmonized noise Nastya fitted a deep message into this conscious ballade. In todays Russia like nowhere people can feel the pressure of informational warfare and propaganda. So Miss Baas is fighting it with music and hopes to reach people souls and minds and prevent them from being manipulated and repeating fatal mistakes of the past century! 04. “Ganja pride” An anthem of upcoming worldwide liberation of cannabis, encouraging all users and supporters of any type of cannabis usage to come out and stand up for their right to heal and get high – nuff said! 05. “Palm shot” A symbol of unification of people in synchronized rhythmic pulse given just by a simple clap, "shot" of one's palms. Miss Baas is wondering if we can really overcome the regress that we face in the world today with a peaceful protest. So the link to the respected Mahathma Ghandi in the lyrics is not just a witty expression. This song is a collaboration with a young but acknowledge D'n'B producer Rusty K, thus widening the musical frames of the EP.
