简介

In his instrumental debut, “SPIRITS OF THE BOUNDARY”, Jesse takes us on a tour of his native Minnesota. This hybrid of acoustical new age and easy listening music is representative of the originality that many musical visionaries from Minnesota have pioneered; from the clairvoyant ballads of Bob Dylan to the homespun country/folk renditions of Garrison Keillior and on to the unique energy filled art of Prince. Minnesotans are as proud of their paradise as Israel Kamakawiwo’oli was of his Hawaii. “SPIRITS OF THE BOUNDARY” is the first of two cd’s planned for release. This collection doesn’t just take the listener on a virtual tour of this verdant corner of America; from the haunting “COLD WATER SHIPS” of Lake Superior to the recollections of children playing at dusk in a farm yard in “CATTAILS AND FIREFLIES”. This writer also asks you to reflect on the tragic events that led to one of the darkest moments in American history in “SONG FOR MAHPIYA OKINAJIN”. Jesse wove a combined musical perspective from both sides of the Minnesota and Dakota / Santee war of 1862 into this selection that begs the listener to discover just what happened on that cold day after Christmas in Mankato on December 26th of 1862. There’s a true depth of meaning to each piece of this collection. The centerpiece, “SPIRIT OF THE BOUNDARIES”, places the listener in a birch bark canoe as it silently slips through cold, clear waters and passes by rocky shorelines of a land only known to native Chippewa and early French fur traders as the Boundary Waters. So listen, imagine and, for the next few minutes, close your eyes and visit Jesse Anderson’s “SPIRITS OF THE BOUNDARY”.
