简介
Kristina Wolfe is a composer and media artist. Her pieces have been performed at many festivals, conferences, and concerts, including the Third Practice Electro-Acoustic Festival, International Alliance for Women and Music conference, International Computer Music Conferences, and many others. In 2007, she worked as the Greg Altman Media Intern for Pauline Oliveros at the Deep Listening Institute. She received her B.A. in Music Technology from Florida International University and her Masters of Arts in Digital Musics at Dartmouth College. Mythic Structures play a significant role in her work and can be divided into two contexts: The object itself and the literary source material. The notion of art, the implied act of documentation combined with the history of the genre and the narrative culture and clichés of the canon cannot be ignore. The story, as with any form of narrative, has its own constructs that should be considered. A number of intermedia archetypes are also embedded, such as that of the sense of old. The music itself should be interpreted as though it were an artifact, subjected to temporal degradation, and with the archetypes of a parallel universe. Technological artifacts, such as noises, bandwidth, and clicks play a major role in both the visual and auditory materials in her work and inform the physical Historiographic Space. The implied level of decay and damage to the work evokes a sense of watching a lost story whose only physical proof of existence is slowly degrading due to poor storage and mishandling over a long period of time. Her music tends to polarize listeners, meaning, some enjoy it while other think she is a dangerous lunatic.
