Mika?s Matthias Wilhelm and Simon Haidenbauer believe in magic. They were the benign rulers of a tribe of toys occupying a room in a small village named ?Maerchenwaldsiedlung? (translation: fairy tale settlement). They called the room ?Playmobilzimmer?. All was peaceful until Matthias and Simon fell in love with other toys: guitar, drums & bass. Their future was irrevocably altered. Unable to translate their magic into palpable forms via established studio set-ups, Matthias built a home studio while Simon discovered some old synthesizers in his closet. Together with friends, Mika experimented with different styles, from noise to house, ambient to electro. When the Klein label heard the effervescent pop house bliss bomb, ?Tomorrow?, they were immediately besotted, releasing it in Spring 1999. ?The day is over / we start drifting...? (?Vamos?). Drifting is the key-word to Mika?s debut. They catwalk into your living room, offering summery fresh vibes, deliciously inscrutable moods and earlobe tickling sounds. ?Target? hits the spot every time, a floorfilling aural spa spruiked with vibes and Lea Sonnek?s dreamy vocals.
