stan sykes Bio Stan Sykes - Entertainer STAN SYKES BIO STAN SYKES was born in Chicago, Illinois. When he was very young Stan’s family moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he began to cultivate his musical talents. At the tender age of twelve Stan entered a local musical competition for young performers. He delivered a dynamic performance that resulted in him winning the Young St. Louis Talent Fair. This launched the beginning of a long and rewarding professional career. Throughout his childhood and teen years Stan relentlessly pursued his musical interests and continued to work toward improving his talents. While attending Sumner High School he was president of the prestigious Sumner Accappella Choir under the direction of the legendary Kenneth Brown Billups. He then attended Harris Stowe State College where he joined the choir and was later appointed student conductor. He also served as a student music teacher under the direction of Doris Jones Wilson. As a student musical instructor, Stan was charged with helping other young people develop their musical talents. While attending Harris Stowe, Stan began to develop his talents on a national scope. He traveled to Florida, where his talents won him a gold medal in the 1979 Florida World Musical Festival. Stan completed his college education at Webster University where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music. After completing his secondary education, Stans interest and commitment to the field of music heightened to new levels. He performed with the MCA Records Development ACT STEPPIN OUT, where he served as lead bassist and lead vocalist. In 1993 Stan traveled to New York where he had the pleasure of working on his debut album (CD) with the famed John Adams Company. In 1995, Stans musical performances began to take an international scope. He went on a tour of Japan traveling to cities such as Nagoya, Yokkiiachi and Fukuoka. While in Fukuoka he co-delivered a New Years celebration performance with one of Japans most respected musician, Greg Glover. The balance of Stans Japan tour was spent starring at the Toei Hotel in the city of Yokkiachi as the main event performer. Subsequent to his tour of Japan, the Norwegian Cruise line employed Stan where he has been performing for the past ten years. Stan began his employment with Norwegian as a lounge performer where he was named musician of the month numerous times. His talents earned him several advancement opportunities with Norwegian. In 1999 he performed as the opening act on the Norwegian Winds Welcome Aboard Show. In March of 2000, Stan delivered a series of cabaret shows for Norwegian where his talents earned rave reviews. In January of 2005 Stan was hired by Tom Versen of Blue Sky Productions, To do jingles for The Bebe Wynans nationally syndicated radio show. In Feb. 2006 Stan was asked to write the jingle for the nationally syndicated Donny McClirkin Radio Show. Also A Blue Sky Production. Tom Versen ceo.
