简介

My name is Nceba Tshontyi. I was born in 1983 and I was raised in a village called Newlands, popularly known as Nxarhuni ,in the city of East London, from the beautiful province of Eastern Cape. I lived there for 21 years. And when I was 21, I moved to the city of Johannesburg in the Gauteng province, to pursue my dream as a musician. I fell in love with music from a young age - my sister used to say that she would play the radio to get me to sleep and stop me from crying....from the age age of 7 my dad used to fight with me over the usage of his tape recorder, those days in my village there was no electricity and we were using batteries, I would play the radio almost the whole night and fall asleep while it's still playing, come news-time the battery was flat, and that would get me into trouble with my old man and he would forbid me from touching it. But, he had a soft spot for me and he understood his boy and his love for music.. . During my primary school days I used to participate in different choirs during school concerts and music competitions. I started writing the first song while I was doing grade 9,with the help of my brother who was also a composer by then. During that time the popular music genres was pop and kwaito, he was specialising in kwaito and he was a lyricist and I was a vocalist and a lyricist as well. We started a group in 1999 called vibe, consisting of 4 members, me my brother and his two friends. During those days we were using other artist's instrumentals to compose our songs, I still remember the songs that we were doing were celebrated where we were staying and everybody was supporting us and we used to rock shows locally, but our disadvantage was the fact that no one was financing our music, and we were using other people's works. In 2000 the group disbanded and went to form another group but we were three by then and another member came in to join us because everyone was keen to be part of us. Because of the disadvantages my brother decided that he needed to go solo in 2002. He wanted to go to the studio, but unfortunately in 2004 when he recorded his first single I was already in Joburg, busy trying to invest in my music. In 2006 I went on to record my first R&B album. We did 4 songs but the recording company was facing challenges and I had to stop and start the following year. After that, things were not materialising and the company was sold and they relocated. The unfortunate part for me was the fact that I lost my phone and I had lost all their contacts. All the money that paid for the project went down the drain. That made me to just decide on taking a break. In 2011 I joined one of the local churches, n became part of their worship team. I wrote songs, for the choir and I told myself that I need to finish what I came to Joburg for and bring life to my dream. I went to the studio and did three songs there, and the producer was impressed and asked me to do a house album with him. We did 5 songs and he decided that I just put them on my album, and that's how I started doing dance and house, I had to showcase my lyricist talent as well and do vocals. I parted ways with that producer on good terms cause by that time I was looking for new challenge and decided to work on a new sound and finish the project elsewhere. I went on record 11 more songs and did my first single, while we were busy with the designs, I met up with my old producer the one that I was doing my first R&B album with, I had to stop the releasing of the single. We decided to relook the project and all was success, though challenges were but I was counting it all joy because I'm bigger than them. I added few more songs, the hit Amazing was well received by people where I'm staying and in the clubs. I've recorded more than 20 dance and house songs. Skillo started doing music 2009 while started performing in high schools the same year. In 2010 he shared a stage with Kelly Khumalo and Tear Gas in an event hosted by True FM and Mdantsane City Mall. In 2013 Skillo realised a song called Baba and it was making waves on East London community radio. Baba got a nominated on Kumkani FM, unfortunately it did not win. In 2014 he start a brand called Abo Ban Ban and were selling T-shirts and doing events around East London with the biggest event that got everyone talking was the Kasi Festival on 7 June 2014 attended by 500 plus crowd. Later in 2014 Skillo got a call from Buffalo City Municipality inviting him to come and perform at their summer carnival in King Williams Town and East London. In 2015 he moved to Johannesburg where his is still hustling. Tseke was produced by DJ Face at Face the Music Records.
