Ervan Rushing is an up and coming artist with a unique sound of R&B inspired by his love for soul music. However, he is not new to the music scene. Ervan Rushing was born into a musical family in the small town of McAlester, Oklahoma. His childhood was characterized by family gatherings and church. Sundays were always filled with rhythm and blues. Ervan’s uncle, Charles “Bo Bo” aka Bo Diddley, a guitarist, was an early influence on Ervan and taught him to appreciate the blues. Ervan stayed close to McAlester until his college years at East Oklahoma State where he earned his degree in Psychology. It was there that he joined his first band called, “Something Extra” and wrote his first song “Friends”. It was a successful club band and his experience of touring the mid-west helped to cement Ervan’s ambition to make music his life. He would sing and play anywhere just to be heard. Ervan moved to Portland, Oregon and continued to further his career- writing and playing music. There he met a lot of musicians and a lyricist named David Lawrence. His name was starting to make noise in the West, locally. Ervan recorded his first solo album in 1993, “Try Me”. Ervan later joined the UKrew as lead vocalist, a successful group from the nineties. He has opened for national acts such as Ice Cube, Brian McKnight, Walter Beasley, After 7, Portrait, Chante’ Moore, D.J. Ouik, 2nd to None, Joe, Dammon Hall, Roger and Zapp, C-Bo, The Click, and E40. Ervan later went on to produce several artists in the early 90’s. He produced The Lova’s “Come and Get A Taste” album as well as Chuckmeez’s “Chuckmeez’s Back”. A self taught guitarist, vocalist and keyboardist, Ervan continues to learn new disciplines that will make him a better musician and entertainer. Ervan writes his music from the heart and strives to stay in touch with his feelings. He considers himself down to earth and wants to reach those who feel the same.
