简介
by Martin WaltersThis Icelandic trio came out of '90s post-rock and noise music with a distinctive sound that could be called electro-acoustic post-punk. Previous collaborations with Stock Hausen and Walkman, Hafler Trio, Nurse With Wound, and Ryoji Ikeda may indicate that the trio are taking their aesthetics from both academic electronic music and the IDM movements and with this armory they created a partly improvisational, partly composed avant-garde music for their first release on Ritornell. Using a range of deconstructive strategies in computers and electronics, the trio takes us on a ride through the outer regions of digital music. There is a disposable quality to their work, which can sound inspired and tired in one moment to the next, and those with their ear to the ground of avant-garde music, from Oval to Nicholas Collins and Fennesz, will not find much new ground covered here. Regardless, the energy and wayward attitude is enough to suffice, and a little more than a sprinkling of humor makes this a good addition to the extremely minimal post-techno and experimental music scenes of the turn of the millennium.
