简介
Sarah Wood's debut album "One May Morning" is a collection of ballads, old time country/bluegrass songs, and fiddle/banjo tunes from Eastern Kentucky and the surrounding Appalachian region. Sarah's traditional overhand and two-finger banjo style can be heard accompanying her ballad singing and the masterful Kentucky fiddling of Jesse Wells. 3 tracks ("Barbara Allen," "Young People Who Delight in Sin," and "Bed of Primroses") feature acapella singing recorded and mastered in such a way as to preserve and showcase the unique tone and inflection in Sarah's voice. Karly Dawn Milner (vocal harmony) and Scott Napier (Mandolin) come in with Jesse's fiddle and guitar and Sarah's singing on "I Never Will Marry" and "Little Girl and the Dreadful Snake" to create a full "old country" style sound. Listeners familiar with old time music (particularly with Kentucky singers, fiddlers, and banjo players) will hear homage paid to several regional musicians including Jamie Wells, Brett Ratliff, George R. Gibson, Jack Helton, Mary Lozier, Buell Kazee, The Carter Family, Estill Bingham, Banjo Bill Cornett, Bill Monroe, Addie Graham, Paul David Smith, Addie Graham, Dillard Chandler, Bill Stepp, The Hammons Family, Lily May Ledford, Hazel and Alice, Luther Strong, Lloyd Chandler, and many others.
