Simply intended to be a source of encouragement for all, A Thousand Springs captures the experience of a 24-hour retreat into nature for reflection and renewal. Each song is based on a personal, yet common, emotional experience that often brings restoration and enthusiasm to life. Andrews explains, “The first four tunes are about enjoying nature and unwinding from day-to-day stresses. The next four pieces reflect a time to relax, heal, reassess and map out positive steps forward. The last group of four compositions represent leaving nature or the retreat, and going back into society, but now facing the world rejuvenated and focused.” 1. A Thousand Springs "A Thousand Springs" is a celebration song! It's about it being okay to stop and celebrate the big and small victories in life. Adam had a vision of springs of water in abundance, waterfalls, new life, etc. as he composed this song. 2. Authenticity Falls "Authenticity Falls" is about the value in being true to who we are. It's not easy to reveal all of our different sides to the world. It can feel like going over a waterfall at first, but then riding peacefully down the river. Adam tried to build several different styles of music into the song to represent our many sides. 3. Finding Free "Finding Free" was inspired by an appreciation for creativity. In this song, Adam expresses the joy he feels when creating with an open heart and mind. He wanted to use a country/folk style of music to convey this emotion. 4. Just Gotta Be "Just Gotta Be" is about finding contentment. It serves as a reminder to Adam not to take life too seriously, to relax from time to time, and just be! 5. Night Embers "Night Embers" is a song about his own difficulty to let go of past hurts. It can be easy to dwell on and retell of past hurts, yet it just plants seeds of bitterness in our hearts. Adam envisioned floating embers in the night that have the potential to roar back to a blaze of rage. The song is short intentionally so as not to dwell or retell! 6. Every Dark Tear "Every Dark Tear" was composed to bring solace to those grieving loss. Adam wrote the song the day he attended the funeral of his best friend from childhood. 7. Surrounding Hollow "Surrounding Hollow" is a song of encouragement for those who've ever hit rock bottom, admitting weakness or the need for help. While difficult to get to that point in life, it can start the healing process. At that point of acknowledgment, it's as if we surround what is hollow within us, allowing us to be filled up, loved, and cared for. 8. A New Dawn Rising "A New Dawn Rising" is a reminder that there is always hope. Each new day brings an opportunity to awake as if on purpose. This was the final piece composed for the album and gave Adam a peace about the album's completion. 9. Water Over Ashes "Water Over Ashes" is about grace. It symbolizes leaving old places behind and preparing to start out on a new path. 10. Not Lost On Us "Not Lost On Us" is about finding compassion and empathy for others. Living out this concept has transformed Adam's life and brought him much joy. To compose the song, Adam thought about his adopted son, and how his family will never forget that he had to grieve his first family in order to be with theirs. 11. Believe "Believe" is about the importance of staying positive and persevering in life. As Adam's first album, Road to Ambo, blessed more people than he could've ever imagined, he wrote this song reflecting on how he had to remain positive while taking the steps of faith to bring his music to the world. 12. Foundation Trails "Foundation Trails" is a song about moving forward in life, one-step or day at a time, and applying all that’s been learned along the way.
