John Hodge is a Newfoundland based Singer-songwriter with a global style. For John, being an artist is a life choice. His music and lyrics embody the metaphors of life he has experienced and from listening: to himself, to others, and to the local stories that want to be told. John is a talented St Anthony based artist, a self-taught guitarist who has been honing his crafts, playing music, writing songs and making guitars since he was 12. John writes and sings from the heart, performing his own material, self-accompanied by acoustic guitar and electric guitar (some made - some bought) and with other local musicians. On Starragin - (A PLAY ON WORDS), his debut album, John performs the roles of composer, lyricist, vocalist, instrumentalist, and self-manager. In the early nineteen nighties, John performed widely in a band, so popular that the events were often sold out with fans lined up down the street from the local Talley Ho Tavern. His music and song writing is happy fusion - Newfoundland jig and reels, John Prine, Jonny Cash, Gordon light foot and the Rolling Stones. His first Album Starring will delight - it choked full of happy, songs that will make you want to sing along, celebrate life and get up and dance.
