简介

Namaste, I hope you enjoy this new album as much as we enjoyed working on it. These songs are as intimate and nice to listen to as the songs in my previous albums. Amar Raj Sharma, a well known songwriter/composer from Patan, is one of my collaborators. I've tried a few different styles; I've never recorded songs with Tablas before, and I've managed a couple in this album. This is my 4th album and my 4th collaboration with veteran guitarist, arranger & composer, Kishor Gurung. “Harek Mod Ma” was written and composed in 2002. This song is about the love of your life, the light of your life, your soul mate. It’s about respect and admiration towards your partner. It’s about waiting, hoping, promising, and thinking about all the wonderful things that have happened between you and her and also waiting for many beautiful things to happen in the future at every turn. This love is so pure and true you tend to ask yourself if it’s really true or you’ve just woken up from a dream. This is a very romantic tune with simple lyrics and music. Kishor Gurung’s acoustic guitar picking sounds beautiful and unique in this Nepali song. “Sapana Sari” was written and composed in 2003/04 by Amar Raj Sharma, a well known song writer /composer from the Patan area. He has, in the past, written many hit songs for other singers as well. I was so impressed with this unique style of composition and it’s lyrical content that I had to record it. The lyrics are philosophical- it’s about life. The song talks about how one is born and grows old- an on-going ritual. During this beautiful life one should not be angry. Life should not be about arguments and war, and life should not be about selfishness or greed. Amar has given me more songs which are just as unique and well composed, and I intend to record them in the future. “Hod Baji Ko Jeewan” was written and composed by Kishor Gurung around 1985/86. It was one of my favorite songs composed by Kishor. This was recorded and sung beautifully by Mala Bloan around 1987. I decided to redo it with a little different arrangement. I’m just thrilled to be a part of this beautiful song. “Dashain Ra Tihar” was written and composed in 1990. I waited a long time to record this number. This song is about our beautiful festivals Dashain & Tihar, which take place after the Monsoon. This song is a reminder of how our Dashain & Tihar festivals are celebrated, enjoyed and remembered for years to come. This song reminds me of my childhood growing up, celebrating the festivals which included kite flying, visiting relatives, eating a variety of foods, playing cards, new clothes, the lights, firecrackers, the long holidays and how much fun everyone had during this auspicious time. The song also talks about how the festival is for everyone regardless of whether you’re from the cities or the hills, whether you are rich or poor, it’s equally important to everyone and enjoyed and celebrated by everyone. The ladies who’ve participated in the backing vocals have done a marvelous job making the song sound very joyous. Shushil Biswakarma has done a wonderful job with the Bansuri (Bamboo Flute). Manaraj Nakarmi plays the Madal & Dholak to make the song sound more authentic. Both Shushil & Manaraj are popular studio musicians in Kathmandu. “Mausam Badlincha” was written & composed in 2001. This is probably my first real "adhunik song" (modern song) in our song category. I’ve always loved the sound of Tabla but I’ve never recorded a song with Tabla and this happens to be my first. It’s a good old romantic song. It talks about how a relationship isn’t always smooth; it has its ups and downs and has to be tolerated and worked out between the two involved. This song is also a reminder of how everything is so beautiful when you are in love and all your sorrows go away when you see her waiting for you in the morning with her beautiful smile. The Tabla played by Manaraj Nakarmi sounds extraordinary. “Premaka Yi Geeta Haru” was written & composed in 1999. This is another romantic tune which talks about remembering the good times after a romantic encounter with someone. The separation has actually inspired this song and it talks about how all the words and music in this song are for you. The song mentions how you are away from me yet you are around me all the time. In the end it’s about all my intentions- and all the love I’ve saved is for us, to be together someday. It's basically a love song, I love the way the melody goes in this song. “Biti Gayo Yi Din Haru” was written & composed in 2001. This song is about being far away from someone you love and remembering her everywhere, at every instance, and wanting to be close to her. Regardless of the distance, the songs says if I had wings I’d fly across the seven seas to be close to you. Even though we may be far apart I think about all the happy times we had together. I cherish and smile whenever I remember you and wish that every love was meant to be together. My love towards you is forever. You guessed it-- it’s a love song. “Jati Heryo Timro Tasbir” was written by Damber Pahadi in 1992 and composed by me in late 2003. I loved the words that Mr. Pahadi, a lecturer in Ilam, created in this song. Damber’s lyrics really motivated me to compose this melody. Inspired by true events in Damber’s life, this sad yet romantic song was born. Damber talks about his intimate relationship with his wife and the love that was very strong, and how they had to be separated for a while at some point. Damber was posted to a different location from his hometown due to his job, and was unable to take his wife along with him. A latin-inspired style of arrangement has given this song a lot of energy. Thank you for listening. 15% of the proceeds of this album go to www.himalayan-healthcare.org.
