简介
Attention Disembodied Consciousness! Do not be alarmed: Your brain is safe. All vital functions are normative and the computer runs flawlessly. We keep you â your brain â in the most sophisticated holding facility known to modern science. You are wrapped in fluid, hidden inside a white box, attached to the wiring of REALITY, the bio computer that controls all five billion nerve endings. It sends the appropriate electronic messages in a continuous symphony, complex beyond even the comprehension of us Zeebonauts. I've written this message into the REALITY program to tell you the experiment is over! From this point, you're on your own. Your program will terminate when your brain shuts down naturally â or if the janitor accidentally flicks the switch. In the meantime, we've made this digitally encrypted binary code available for you in the form of what you might call a “compact disc”. From what we gather, this is what your species calls “music”. Damned if I get it, but our scientist have worked diligently on it, in the hope that the music on this disc will somehow ease the transition when the REALITY program is shut down. My scientific opinion is that you should check it out. It is called The Lifeboat Is On Fire. Elements of this music may seem familiar to you from previous nerve impulse firings in your auditory cortex. But there is something very new about it too. Here's what our Transient Auditory Nerve Transmission expert has to say: “The Lifeboat Is On Fire represents a new fusion of electronica, experimental, noise, jazz, and rock. It's held together by compelling melodic content mostly in the form of the human voice. Performed by veteran of the 'underground' music scene in San Francisco, Jess Rowland, with guest drummers on some tracks. Jess sings, plays the fender rhodes, piano, guitar, bass, and drums on many tracks. She also makes extensive use of loops from radio, and tape manipulation. It's a veritable treasure trove of musical tricks and flights of fancy, sure to leave you speaking backwards in Esperanto. Don't worry, the Esperanto part wears off, though learning a new language is always useful and personally fulfilling.” Thank you for your time. And now as I remove REALITY's wire, consider your umbilical chord cut. Make the best of it. This is the last transmission.
