YellowStraps was created by two Belgian self-taught brothers (Alban & Yvan Murenzi) drawing influences from their travels early on. Born in Rwanda, raised in Uganda, and living in the melting pot that is Brussels, ever since. They have always been busy conjuring up a very particular sound mixing many styles like Jazz, Soul, Hip-hop & electronic music. In 2014 the band won the Award of Most Promising Artist at Redbull Elektropedia. 2016 is the year they dropped ‘MELLOW’, the first album in collaboration with famous producer Le Motel. In 2018 YellowStraps’ 3rd release, ‘BLAME’, came out on Majestic Casual Records. From the first EP being picked up by Belgium's favourite Dj LEFTO to steadily playing on more and more on stages, in renowned venues such as: Botanique, Ancienne Belgique, Het Depot, De Vooruit, Arenberg, Muziekodroom and also famous festivals like Dour Festival, Pukkelpop, Horst Festival, Les Ardentes, Brussels Summer Festival, etc. The duo latest cut ‘ROSE’ released in June 2019 featured on ColorsxStudios and has amassed over 700k views. The pair are now poised to release their second EP, dropping Feb 2020. The guys have seen some decent early support from top Youtube channels including Majestic Casual, The Sound You Need, College Music, etc., as well as key international tastemakers including COLORS Berlin, Complex, Earmilk or Highclouds, and were also chosen as The Great Escapes' First Fifty. 2020 is shaping up nicely for Belgium's newcomers.
