Not Hit Not Even Close # 51 - "Business Unusual" EMI music publishing got a lead that "Ghostbusters II" was looking for a new theme song for the second movie, hoping that the success of the original "Ghostbusters" song would happen again for a second one. I wrote this in about 3 hours then ran it over to Kent (Redrock) and it's one of the many many songs that I have no idea if they (The movie people) ever even heard it. Not Hit Not Even Close #52 - "Velvet Answers" Three in a row from Redrock. I'm trying to clean up eras with this volume, ok? Then we will start to REALLY go backwards until I get to "Mark Radice: The Embryo Months". One of the rare recordings of mine where I'm not only NOT doing all the instruments? But I don't think I played ANYTHING on this. Ok wait I think the left rhythm guitar might be me. The ridiculously talented Gary Wehrkamp is on the "real" guitars", Kevin Leggieri on bass (did I spell your last name right Kev?) Neil Braunstein ("We like Neil, he plays good drums) on....drums. Not Hits Not Even Close #53 - "I Am Your Conscience" Deep. Oh, deep, deep deep. Redrock. I played this for people at EMI and they looked really....nervous. My mother actually called me and asked me if I was ok. When she called I was out in Hollywood at an outdoor pool at a hotel. I said "Mom? Just because you hear the song NOW? Doesn't mean that's how I feel at the time you're hearing it, ok?" Not Hit Not Even Close #55 - "Let The Rain Begin" - Hey, ALMOST a three chord song (except for the bridge) very hippie-ish messages about "raining down in different colors" and junk like that....Linda Wagner (ex-girlfirend # 42) on background vocals....recorded at RedRock circa ....I wanna say 85? 88? Not Hit Not Even Close #56 - "Where Do The Children Go" - Very cool out of the box track RedRock recording about missing children...I promise I will put the lyrics up to all these songs as soon as I can. Not Hit Not Even Close #57 - "Kelly" I met Kelly at a diner on Main Street in Stroudsburg. She was this cute little waitress and I did my usual "write the cute girl a song and see what happens" sort of thing I use to do. The usual result of this method either scared the hell of of them or they became girlfriends, but Kelly? Neither. It was like I gave her a piece of toast or something...oh well.....nice song, very light and moody. Like Kelly. Not Hit Not Even Close #58 - "Home All Alone" THIS one I was actually really "Home All Alone on a Saturday Night, watching the Libyans fuss and fight" at my house in Stroudsburg, PA....I was watching the news......alot of times that's all it took to write something new, just a first line. Not only is Kent Heckman playing cool guitar parts and engineering the whole mess, but I asked him to do a "lawnmower solo", of which he obliged and we stuck two microphones out in his driveway as he lawn mowered away. The beginning I made a sort of "Radio station DJ" for: "It's 7:15 in the big city, partly cloudy with a chance of showers tonight, this is the FENDERS with "Home All Alone" and then I sang "WMER !" in four part harmony (MER is Mark Eugene Radice)
