The majority of this album was written and recorded in the span of one college semester. As a student attending Saint Petersburg College's MIRA program (Music Industry Recording Arts) Shadcore's lead instructor noticed something special about him. After seeing him perform a 2 song set in the campus' quad the professor immediately approached Shadcore afterwards and said "we gotta get you a record done!". Understanding that the school's recording gear was intended for class assignments only and not for personal recordings Shadcore expressed concern of other students complaining of favoritism should he make an entire album at the expense of the college. So the lead instructor, realizing that Shadcore was a student in his "Composer's guide To The Studio" class, suggested that he use the songs that he turned in for assignments as the tracks for his new album! Shadcore began assembling all the pieces he needed in order to pull of this 16 week challenge. He started hand-picking the musicians that he would collaborate with to make 'Oh My Shad!' the masterpiece that he knew it could be. He wanted it to be an album utilizing only musicians/artists that were either currently in the MIRA program or it's alumni. He was familiar with their work from prior projects they worked on months before. Once these pieces were in place he began writing. He wrote constantly. At school. On the job. In his sleep. The ideas kept coming and as they came he continued to jot them all down. Being a person who is big on album titles and song titles he knew the record couldn't just have any old name. So he thought to himself, "what do I want the listener to take away from hearing these compositions?" and that's when it hit him! I want them to feel that wow-factor that I enjoy feeling after hearing some of my favorite artists. That OMG feeling! And that's when 'Oh My Shad!' was born. Shadcore ultimately recorded 14 tracks but he trimmed the fat and cut it to10 simply because he feels less is more. These 10 compositions each have their own personality and uniqueness, yet they are more powerful delivered together as a complete body of work. There is never an urge to "skip" a track because they all compliment one another through beautiful melodies and intelligent arrangements, all accompanied by Shadcore's distinct vocal tone and his impeccable flow. This album will make you believe in not just great hip-hop, but great music again! Kudos to the lead instructor for lighting the fire. The fire that you'll feel burning inside you upon listening to this wonderful work of art. Oh My Shad indeed!
